White Lake Citizens League HOME

Welcome to the White Lake Citizens League

Our fireworks display is specifically exempted from these bans, and will proceed as planned

Highland Township Fireworks Ban

On June 29, 2016 the Highland Township Fire Department issued the following statement:

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY AND UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE THERE IS A BAN ON THE USE AND DISCHARGE OF FIREWORKS AND OPEN BURNING IN THE TOWNSHIP OF HIGHLAND.

THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS THE FIREWORKS DISPLAY OVER WHITE LAKE ON JULY 2ND.

White Lake Township Statement

On July 1, 2016 the White Lake Township Fire Department issued the following statement:
Due to extremely dry conditions, and in the interest of public safety, the White Lake Township Fire Department has elected to enact the following provisions effective immediately:
  • Open burning is banned until further notice.
  • The use /discharge of consumer grade fireworks is not recommended throughout the 4th of July holiday.
Details are on the White Lake Township website.

The WLCL urges all of the residents on White Lake (both townships) to honor the Highland Township ban, by not using consumer fireworks or having bonfires this weekend. We have a good relationship with both townships (as noted by the specific exemption for our professional fireworks display), and it would be a shame if an accidental brush fire were to be blamed on our professionally-run display.

Independence Day

2016 Celebrations

fireworks fireworks

Our annual celebration and fireworks display will take place on

Saturday, July 2nd

this year!!!

Just

This year's Boat Parade theme is
"FAVORITE DECADES"

Pick your Favorite Decade (the 1950's, the 1920's, the 1990's, etc.) then focus on the TV shows, movies, music, clothing, current events, and so on from that decade. Be creative and have fun!

The Boat Parade will begin promptly at 2:15 pm in the bay near the marina. Prior registration is not needed for boats, but all boat teams should register at the lead boat when they arrive to receive a boat number and gift bag.

Come join in the fun!!! Click here to see last year's boats and prize winners.

GREAT PRIZES - donated by our generous local businesses - will be awarded to the top 5 boats. So far, we have major prizes to award from Marine Concepts, Jim Brady's, The White Lake Inn, Sparkies, The Wine Basket, Highland Hills Golf Club, Graceland Party Store, and more!

Prizes will be awarded based on a combination of the "People's Choice" voting by lakeside residents and the Judges Boat scoring. No prior registration is needed to vote, however you must watch the entire parade before voting.

VOTING - Vote by calling 248-887-2734 (NO text messages or voicemail messages). The telephone number for voting will also be shown from the Lead Boat as the parade moves along shorelines. We had over 500 votes last year! We want everyone to get an opportunity to vote, so we take one vote per call and one call per phone number, so everyone gets a fair opportunity at winning.

Lighted Boat Parade

An "unofficial" Lighted Boat Parade may take place on Friday night, July 1st. Any boats that want to participate should meet in the bay near the marina and at around 9:30 PM on Friday.

All boats with lights and lighted decorations - either permanent or temporary - are invited to participate.

Fireworks

To cap off the day, this year's spectacular WLCL Fireworks Display will begin at dark on Saturday. Fireworks will be launched from 2 barges located near the southern end of the lake.

This double-barge professional display is financed entirely from WLCL fund raising activities, and from your voluntary memberships and donations to the WLCL.

The Rain Date for the fireworks will be Sunday, July 3rd.
