boat launch closed

The launch was originally scheduled to reopen by September 5, 2017. The DNR has informed us that problems have been encountered, and these problems have delayed its reopening. If no additional issues are encountered, the work on the launch is now expected to be completed by mid-October.

The Lester Farms Subdivision Association has graciously developed a schedule (below) to allow lake residents limited access to their boat launch on Jackson Blvd (0.8 miles west of Ormond Road, between the Little Store and the dirt section). $10 donation per watercraft ($5 of which is donated to the WLCL fireworks fund).

Project History

The DNR announced on March 7, 2017 that they intend to CLOSE the Boat Launch on Duck Lake Road from MID-MAY to MID-AUGUST for "site improvements".

Below is the text of the announcement on the White Lake Township Parks and Recreation Facebook Page

White Lake boating access site to close from mid-May to mid-August for site improvements.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources announced today that the White Lake boating access site, located off of Duck Lake Road in Oakland County, temporarily will close from mid-May to mid-August for site improvements.

The DNR advises White Lake residents to plan ahead and launch their boats prior to the mid-May construction closure. From mid-March until the project begins, the DNR will supply a skid pier to assist residents with launching their boats.

The improvement project will include 17 additional parking spaces, a wider launch ramp, additional landscaping and improved vehicle circulation. The new site design will allow vehicles to both enter and exit off Duck Lake Road, reducing vehicle traffic for neighboring property owners.
