The White Lake Citizens League (WLCL) is a nonprofit, volunteer organization. It is comprised of approximately 1600 property owners located on, or having deeded access to White Lake in the Townships of White Lake and Highland in Oakland County, Michigan. (This area definition is aligned with the Special Assessment District associated with the Lake Improvement Board for White Lake, as established by Oakland County.) The Citizens League was started February, 1961 by Arleigh Hess, with the articles of incorporation filed in November, 1962.
WLCL Membership is open to any owner of lakefront property, and others in the White Lake area.
The White Lake Citizens League's purposes are:
- To protect and exercise the legal rights, riparian rights, and privileges of the property owners
- To work toward the improvement and maintenance of the water quality
- To always strive toward a more peaceful, recreational, and scenic area in which to live
- To promote cordial and friendly relationships among its members
- To voice concern for the maintenance and enforcement of building and zoning ordinances and restrictions affecting the membership of the League
The WLCL is governed by Bylaws, adopted by the general membership. Up to 15 members are elected to the Board of Directors at the annual general membership meeting. The Board of Directors then elects Officers, who serve for two year terms.
The Board of Directors meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month, except November, December, and January. Meetings are open to all WLCL members.
